It’s either time travel or holiday. Or simply both. The very first moment you enter Seiberts main room leaves a distinct impression by the use of red and golden colours and soft leather textures. That’s the way the golden 20s must have looked like. Absolutely stylish. The chandelier underlines that impression. A few steps ahead lies the romantic inner yard that reminds us more than a bit of Cuba. A beautiful and naturally aged clinker stone wall surrounds some vintage chairs and tables. There’s even a swing for lovebirds. It’s like a paradise in the middle of Colognes fancier shopping streets. A quiet and peaceful moment. Equally gentle will you be welcomed by a staff that seems to know their regular customers very well.
The air is full of calm connexions between the people. A gentle whisper to the left. A discrete order to the right. Flavoured with a personal note. It feels more than right. The Seiberts is definitely a place to be. And not only because of the swing we recommend it highly for first dates, but also for every following moment of remembrance and delight in a couple’s life. And no, Pia and me sat separated… she in the swing and me on that lovely chair. But both in the warm afternoon sun…
Well, we have to admit that our tastes are very different. While Pia is always looking for new experiences – and Seiberts really got plenty of them with some of the best spirits around, I usually don’t call it a day before I got one of my really classical cocktails. And today it has been an impressive interpretation of the Old Fashioned. The accompanying whisky is going to be your personal choice and their menu offers a nice selection of precious gold.
There’s also a strong focus on champagne in the menu, that decently underlines the high standards of the Seiberts. But not today. I go with a soothing combination of whisky, Angostura bitter, a little sugar and a spiral strip of orange zest, served at it’s best temperature with a big and round icecubes.
This Old Fashioned is amazingly good. So I had another round. And we will certainly come back!
